Have questions? We've got answers!  Here are some of the questions we hear most frequently.  If you can't find what you're looking for here please give us a call 480.620.2352 or email us info@michelestange.com

How much does a session cost?
The creation fee is $200 and is due in full 14 days prior to your session.  You will receive a $100 art credit for your selection session.

Is the creation fee refundable?
Your fee will be refunded in full should you need to cancel 15 days (or more) in advance.  All fees are non-refundable with less than 15 days notice of cancellation.

What is included with the creation fee?
The creation fee includes a $100 art credit. It also covers the time and talent required for your pre-session consultation, travel time, photo session, portrait retouching/color enhancement and your selection session.

Is my $100 art credit limited to specific products?
The $100 art credit can be used toward your purchase of any photographic art product.  This includes but is not limited to, digital art, traditional prints, canvas gallery wraps, press printed books, etc..

Can I save my art credit?
Your art credit is valid on the day of your selection session only.  It may not be used after your selection session has taken place or be saved for a future session. It cannot be transferred to a friend or family member.

Is there a minimum required purchase?
Nope!  We hope you love your images as much as we do making them.  You buy the images that you want, period.

Do you sell digital images?
Yes!  Due to overwhelming demand from our clients we now offer digital art. We have fully embraced the digital age by selling full resolution files (a.k.a. hi-res images or digital negatives). They may be purchased individually or in bundles at a discounted rate.

Our photo session is tomorrow and my child is sick. What should we do?
We understand there are some things you just cannot predict.  Please call us as soon possible should you need to reschedule your session.  We will not refund your creation fee but will be happy to find another time to complete your session.  Please note, rescheduling is limited to a one time occurence. The fee for additional rescheduling is $100 per request.

What happens at the selection session?
All of the 'portrait ready' proofs from your photo session will be presented in a large screen format.  We’ll begin with a slideshow followed by an individual review.  During this process we will be able to compare two or more images side by side, view color treatments and preview sizes to help you make your final selection.   It is very important that all of the decision makers attend in order to complete the selection process.  For this reason, it is best if children do not attend this session (newborns excluded).  Please plan to spend 60-90 minutes at this appointment.

Can I bring my children to the selection session?
The selection process is very detail oriented and requires your full attention.  In order to complete the selection process in a timely manner it is best if children do not attend.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We gratefully accept cash, check, cashier's check, Visa and MasterCard.

When is the best time for newborn photos?
As soon as possible following your baby's birth.  Ideally you'll have newborn photos taken during the first seven to ten days. This is the time when babies tend to sleep most and are the typically easiest to pose and before baby acne appears.

Do you have a baby's first year plan?
We do!  Our Babymoon plan consists of 4 sessions and covers maternity through 18 months.  Expecting? Give us a call 480.620.2352 and we'll tell you all about it.

Will our images be available to view online?
Yes!  Your images will be placed in a private online gallery after you’ve placed your order.  You will have 14 days to share your photos with your friends and family.

My extended family lives out of town and they want to buy images from our session. What is the best way for them to place an order?
We’re here to help.  All you have to do is send them the password to your gallery and our contact information - we’ll do the rest!    They get their photos and there’s no need for you to be the middleman.

We’re very busy this month, can you post our images online and we’ll email you our order?
The selection session has been designed to make the ordering process as straight forward and easy as possible.  Viewing your images in a large screen format with our presentation software enables you to quickly narrow down your selection.  Please call us if you need to reschedule your appointment.  Images will be available via the online gallery only after your order has been completed, no exceptions.

How long do you keep my images?
All images are retained for 18 months.

I bought the images so I own them and they're photos of my family so I can use them however I want, right?

Yes and no.  Under current copyright law we, the photographers, retain all copyrights.  Your purchase entitles you to personal use rights.  So what does that mean?  It means that you can use your images for personal use only.  For example, hanging printed images on your wall, uploading digital images to your facebook account, emailing digital images to friends or displaying them in a digital frame, etc. are all acceptable forms of personal use.  When displaying your images online a “taken by” credit is always greatly appreciated!

You are not permitted to profit from your photos in any way.  For example, using images to promote your personal business, publishing them in printed or online media outlets or submitting them to photo contests are not permitted.  Please note, if you read the fine print, photo contests usually require you to forfeit your copyrights.  Since you do not own the copyrights you may not forfeit them.

Think of it this way, buying images is similar to buying music.  When you buy a CD or download MP3s you’ve purchased the right to listen to the music whenever and wherever you choose. However,  you may not duplicate the music and resell it for profit.  You may not use it to help promote a business or product without purchasing a special usage license and you may not submit it to a music contest as your own original work.

As a side note, I’d like point out that all music used on michelestange.com and blog.michelestange.com has been properly licensed.

If you have any questions regarding copyrights and personal usage rights please contact us.
