Phoenix Children's Photographer | Sisters & Friends

My dear friend, Michelle, and I recently started keeping a daily log of things for which we're grateful.  Sometimes the items on our lists are BIG, such as a new life or a loved one's recovery.  Sometimes they're small, such as a yummy treat or a cloudy day.

It's amazing how the process of keeping a daily list has changed my perspective.  Knowing that I will be writing my gratitude list at the end of the day keeps me focused on the positive because I'm always on the lookout for things I can put on my list. I discovered that once I started looking for the positive I found it and then some!  There are so many things that bring me joy which I overlook on a daily basis. I haven't been taking the time to acknowledge them until now.  Once I took the time to write them down they seemed to multiply.  When we first started our daily lists I struggled to find 10 things.  Now I often find myself having to narrow down my selection.

It may sound simple and it is...that's what I love most about the process.  It isn't complicated and it doesn't take much time, bottom line it makes me feel good. It doesn't mean I never have a bad day but even on the worst of the 'terrible-horrible-no-good-very-bad' days it allows me to find the little pockets of joy that remind me happiness is always there for the taking.

As I was preparing to write today's list I noticed a theme.  Sisters and friends.  Seeing old friends, watching my girls play together, enjoying the laughter as they play with their friends, the list goes on.  Here are a few photos (some from my phone, some from my Nikon) that made my list today.

I am going to start doing this from now on. Thanks for the idea!
