Chandler Family Photographer | Why I love January
Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:28PM When I was younger, January used to be one of my least favorite times of the year. The holidays were over, school and work were back in full swing and usually nothing very exciting was happening. I have to laugh at how much free time I had during my pre-children days.
Now January ranks right up at the top of my list and here are just a few of the reasons why.
- The holidays are over, school and work are back in full swing and it’s usually pretty quiet.
- If you read between the lines, quiet really means full of opportunity.
- Living in the Phoenix area means gorgeous weather. And that includes any potential rain.
- I love the “clean slate, empty canvas” quality of a new year.
- I can spend hours dreaming up all kinds of wonderful plans and possibilities for the remaining 11 months.
- I have a particularly good feeling about 2010.
In keeping with items 1-5, I’ve already accomplished quite a bit this month and I intend to use the rest of my “quiet” time wisely. There are a lot of exciting things in the works both personally and professionally. We’ve got some new products and pricing for 2010. So stay tuned for more on that front. In the meantime, I’ll share a few pictures of my latest adventure in domesticality.

Thanks to my lovely niece, I recently inherited a hutch for my kitchen but there are few changes required before I can give it a new home. We're refinishing our kitchen table and the hutch so that they’ll complement each other. We are also refinishing and relocating the buffet table that currently sits in the hutch’s soon-to-be home. And lastly, finding some chairs that can stand up to my children and heavy daily use. These pictures show the disassembled kitchen table as a work in progress. This was the day we stripped off the old stain. We’ve since stained it, sealed it, re-sanded it and are preparing to give it the final coat of polyurethane. It will be wonderful to have our kitchen table back! Until then, the girls are enjoying eating at "the fancy table" in the dining room - or as I like to call it, our formal dust collector.
