Phoenix Children's Photographer | Roadtrip!

Have you noticed the light has changed?  The high in the sky summer sun has been replaced by a slightly softer one...which makes for an amazing end of the day glow.  I like to call it the golden hour for photos.  During the warmer months in AZ it's still way too hot to shoot during this time of day but the heat is starting to break.

Families are flocking to the outdoors during the morning and early evening.  The sidewalks in our neighborhood are once again filled with bikes, scooters and wagons making their way to the playground.  You can almost feel the cool weather on its way.  I have visions of comfy jeans and fluffy warm sweaters.  I start to rummage through my storage bin of winter clothes but then I check the weather forecast and see that it's supposed to be 106 all weekend.  Hmmm... perhaps those sweaters will have to wait. OR maybe we should just take a roadtrip!

We were too impatient to wait for fall weather to come to us so we decided to make a run for the closest relief from the heat we could find. Goodbye Chandler, hello Flagstaff!

Yesterday we grabbed our sweaters, packed the girls in the car and made a break for the high country.  We stopped for lunch in Sedona and dipped our toes in the refreshing water of Oak Creek.  After splashing in the creek we continued north into the cool cloudy weather and pine forested parks of Flagstaff.  It's amazing what a difference 30 degrees can make.  We watched the rain fall as we munched on our ice cream cones and as soon as the clouds parted we sprinted to the nearest park.  What a great way to spend an afternoon! You'll notice Kate's wearing jeans and a sweater for the first time since her ice skating lessons ended in May.

I watched the temperature gauge rise steadily all the way to Phoenix and by the time we were back home my long sleeve shirt felt uncomfortably out of place.  But it won't be long now so my large bin of winter clothes is staying put...just waiting for that first cool day.

Yes! It's like a huge weight is being lifted off our shoulders. We are soooo close to the gorgeous days.
Can't wait!
